Okra develops a unique sticky texture when chopped, and is rich in the dietary fiber that causes this. Okra is also an excellent green and yellow vegetable, high in vitamins B1, B2, C, carotene, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and potassium. It can be prepared in various ways, including raw (chopped), salads, simmered dishes, dressed dishes, tempura, and stir-fries.

?? Generally, seeds are sown in April-May and harvested in September-October, though this varies by region.

Harvest using scissors as the fruit stems are tough. The number of days until harvest will be longer in cooler temperatures.

It is a heat-loving vegetable and is strong against heat, but weak against cold, and will not grow below 10°C (50°F). It prefers sunny locations with fertile, well-draining soil.
