Vintage Egyptian Revival Rhinestone Dress Clip Sphinx Palm Tree Art Deco Style

Vintage Egyptian Revival dress clip featuring an elaborate openwork Egyptian scene surrounded by large clear marquise-cut rhinestones.  The antiqued gold-tone center depicts a dramatic Egyptian-inspired figural scene with a prominent palm tree and sphinx/feline-style imagery. A complete border of individually prong-set clear navette / marquise rhinestones gives the piece exceptional sparkle and presence.  This is a true vintage dress clip rather than a conventional pin-back brooch. The reverse features a large hinged openwork clip with multiple pointed gripping teeth designed to hold the jewelry securely against substantial fabric.  Beautiful statement piece for a coat, jacket, blazer, heavier dress fabric or other substantial textile. Because the original vintage clip mechanism has sharp fabric-gripping teeth, care should be taken when wearing it on delicate fabrics such as silk, chiffon or fine knits.  Unsigned. No maker’s mark or country-of-origin mark has been located.  Exact age and manufacturer are unknown. Based on the Egyptian Revival design, appears to be a mid-20th-century vintage costume jewelry piece, possibly dating from approximately the 1930s–1950s.
